FAQ
Where are Runewood products made?
All Runewood products are made in Småland, Sweden. Production takes place on a small scale, with a strong focus on materials, function and careful craftsmanship.
Is every cutting board unique?
Yes. Wood is a natural material, so colour, grain and texture will vary from one product to another. This is part of the character of the material and means that no two boards will ever be exactly alike.
What is the difference between end grain and long grain?
On an end-grain board, the wood fibres are oriented upwards. This creates a thicker, more robust work surface that is particularly well suited for regular kitchen use. A long-grain board is thinner and lighter, making it well suited for everyday use and serving.
How should I care for my cutting board?
Wash it by hand using warm water and a small amount of dish soap. Never leave it soaking in water and never put it in the dishwasher. Wipe it dry after cleaning and, if possible, allow air to circulate around both sides while it dries.
Does the wood require maintenance?
Yes. Over time, wooden products need to be reconditioned to maintain their surface and resistance to moisture. When the wood begins to feel dry or look dull, it is time to treat it again. Runewood Wood Balm can be used for regular maintenance.
Can I order a cutting board in a custom size?
Yes. Runewood also accepts custom orders. What is possible depends on the dimensions, material and current production capacity. Get in touch with your idea and I will see what can be made.
How long is the delivery time?
Runewood products are made in small batches, and some products are finished after an order is placed. Delivery times may therefore vary. Current information is provided on each product page or when placing an order.
Why does a handmade cutting board cost more than a regular cutting board?
Runewood products are made for long-term use rather than mass production. The price reflects the choice of materials, working time, construction and the attention given to each individual product.
Can the cutting boards be used every day?
Yes. They are designed as working tools for the kitchen, not simply as decorative objects.
